About AIT

Technology has to understand where it is used.

Where this started
A mechanic works on a motorbike by the roadside.

In Kaduna and Zaria, people repair what the manual says cannot be repaired. A generator with no service history gets diagnosed by sound. A pump gets a part from a different machine. There is no formal support, so people work out the system themselves.

That kind of intelligence rarely meets engineering, data or institutions. It stays on the street, solving one machine at a time. AIT started from a question: what happens if it does meet them, and the design process takes local conditions as seriously as the technology?

So we design for the conditions that exist. Power that drops. Networks that slow. Data that is thin, or held in five places. Users who read Hausa or Yoruba first, and budgets that do not allow for imported answers. We call this Inclusion Engineering. It is not a charity position. It is how you build systems that keep working after the launch.

Today AIT works across applied AI and data, data protection and cybersecurity, climate and energy technology, and technology training. Some of that work is software. Some of it is a digester at a food and energy estate in Lagos. All of it starts with the setting.

Founder

Emmanuel Alafiatayo

Founder

Emmanuel Alafiatayo founded AIT to bring engineering, data and local knowledge into the same design process. Emmanuel is a data scientist and engineer by training and by practice.

Before AIT, Emmanuel analysed health data at JudahHealth360, built real-time data ingestion and computer vision for offshore operations, and advised on responsible AI and workflow automation for energy and industrial clients. The work has also included health AI, among it a chatbot that works in Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo and Pidgin.

Today Emmanuel leads AIT’s engineering and client work, including a waste-to-energy pilot in Lagos, and leads workstreams at Outliers 50, a climate technology venture studio in Kigali.
